Rich Simple Syrup

March 7, 2017

Rich simple syrup can add texture as well as sweetness, so if your cocktail is lacking in mouthfeel you might opt for a bar spoon of rich rather than a larger measurement of simple.

Any syrup can be flavored with fruit, herbs, or spices by steeping the ingredients in the water (like tea) and straining them out before adding the sugar to make the syrup.

3 3/10 oz. Sugar (by volume)

16 7/10 oz. Water

1Bring water to a boil, and turn down to a simmer.

2Add in sugar, and stir until it dissolves.

3Pour into a mason jar, and store in refrigerator. (Can last for up to 6 months if stored properly in an airtight container. Syrups, however, will eventually get moldy, so check on it regularly.)
